The question “why is there pain?” has plagued the world for thousands of years. The Greeks came up with the Greek Mythology of Pandora. Zeus gave Pandora a box on her wedding day and told her to never open it. Curiosity got to her and she eventually opened the box and out poured all the pain, hurt, etc. Once the box was empty, there was a small creature left called “Hope”. This allowed the Greeks to know that even with all the hurt and pain. There is still hope.
When Satan convinced Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit. He caused pain, hurt, and death to join with humanity. God took that pain and decided to use it for good. He told Eve that “through pain” you will produce a seed. This gave them hope. At least that’s what it would have given me if I were Eve. Otherwise, I’d think that was the end of my story right there. When it seems like you have nothing else. Remember. You have hope. No matter what. There is always hope.
There is Hope
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:24-26
If God has given you a promise, ignore your surroundings, your feelings, etc. Hold on to that promise. The Bible says “His promises are yes and amen”. Therefore, if God has promised you something. It will come to fruition. Maybe not today. Or tomorrow. Maybe not even next year, but it will happen! Just wait and trust in Him and His promises.
God Sees You As What He Called You To Be
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Romans 4:17
What this verse tells us, is that in the mind of God, we are already what He has called us to be. The only way to become that person though is to hope in God like the Bible says to in Psalms 42:11. If we lose hope in us becoming what God has called us to be. That is the same thing as losing hope in God Himself. God does not make mistakes. He makes promises.
God’s Hope is Limitless
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
Romans 4:18-19
Human hope is limited. We can only hope for so much. We only have so much faith. Many times after waiting for long. We give up. We lose hope in what God has promised to us. If God promises us something, we automatically put a time limit on it. We may not know that we did, but we did. If that promise goes for too long without being answered. We started to question God and if He really promised us that. Or if He really meant it. What we need to remember though is God is limitless. The Bible tells us that a day to God is like a thousand days to us. Just because you promise has not been fulfilled yet does not mean God has forgotten it. Do not lose hope.
Without Pain – How Do We Learn To Hope
I’ve said all of this to get to this point. Without pain, how are we supposed to learn to hope? If we don’t have the aching of missing out on something, how do we hope for that something? God decided to take a bad situation and use it for the good. He allowed Eve’s sin to bring forth hope rather than writing them off completely. I mean, God is God and if He wanted to He could have started all over right then and there. Wiped out all of creation and started new. Instead, He allowed for Adam and Eve to live. To start a family. He allowed the earth to continue and made a way for us to be redeemed.
No matter how dark your situation. God has a plan for your life. It may seem dark and it may be a hard path. That does not mean though that your story doesn’t have a good ending. Trust in God and trust in that promise that He’s given to you. Do not lose hope in Him.
