Why Blue Ridge is Perfect for a FamLee Getaway!

Just about 90 miles North of Atlanta, there is a beautiful town called Blue Ridge. Even though Atlanta is so close, it feels as though it is a million miles away. This quiet little town not only offers breathtaking views. It also offers a booming downtown with plenty of great shopping and amazing food.

The FamLee ended up in Blue Ridge this past Christmas season. We immediately fell in love. The cabin we’d booked on Home Away couldn’t have been better! Speaking of Home Away, don’t forget to check out this post, to learn how to save some money on your next trip.

Here are a few of the many reasons, we love Blue Ridge.

The View!

This reason is partly due to the cabin we picked. Home Away has tons of options but we picked this one specifically for its view. Since we were in Blue Ridge in December, all we really wanted out of our rental was for it to have enough rooms for everyone and a view. Like we said in a previous post, Home Away allows you to filter rentals in all sorts of ways. We selected “Mountain Views” when looking for our FamLee Christmas and were not disappointed!

The Seclusion

Again, this is partly due to the rental we picked. We wanted to feel as though we were all by ourselves out in the middle of nowhere. Our rental was almost at the top of a mountain. This not only gave us those stunning views I was just talking about but also meant there were not many other cabins near us. The cabins that were near us, were far enough away that we didn’t see them from our cabin. Or hear them even. Now I can’t guarantee they did not hear us. We took full advantage of the porches, hot tub, and fire pit.

Downtown

For those who are following this blog. You know how much we love downtowns. Any post about a town usually talks about the downtown. It’s one of the things we look at when picking where to go on our trips. We love to explore small-town downtowns. The unique stores, the independent restaurants. They are our love language! Well, mine and MomLee’s anyways. The guys enjoy the outdoors and music stores most of all.

A few of my favorites from Blue Ridge are Harvest on Main and Das Kaffee Haus. Justin and I love coffee so we always try to check our local coffee houses. Das Kaffee Haus did not disappoint! Not only was it adorable as all get out. The products were delicious! Each of us got something different and we loved them all! Harvest on Main’s atmosphere is that of a cozy lodge. Their food not only had an amazing presentation but was drool worthy! I raved about this food for a good month or more. I still think back to how delicious it was!

Nature, Nature Nature!

Not only are there tons of things to do in town but there are tons of outdoor activities available too! Blue Ridge offers many outdoor activities such and hiking, biking, fishing, and more! Blue Ridge has a lake and waterfalls. The Aska Adventure Area is just outside of Blue Ridge and offers 17 different attractions listed on their website. Tons of hiking trails, swimming, kayaking, and tubing areas. There is pretty much something for everyone!

All the reason’s I’ve listed above tell of things that help encourage family time. At least in our FamLee. We love nature and getting us all out in the middle of nowhere helps us to connect with each other. If your family is anything like ours. Blue Ridge will give you a great escape to enjoy time together as a family.

All of us enjoyed taking in the view from our cabin together. We also enjoyed being so far away from everything together as a family. When we started feeling a little cooped up downtown offered us a great escape. The shops and restaurants there offered something for everyone!
