The Best App For Planning Your Next Trip

I love to travel. Thankfully, so does Justin. If you have booked a hotel recently you know that getting a good hotel room is not cheap. Since that is the case and we love to travel, we’ve had to get creative with finding a place to stay. One of Justin’s co-workers suggested we check out HomeAway for a trip we were planning right after we got married. It came highly recommended by Justin’s co-worker. He’d used it for some trips and was very happy with his experience with it.

HomeAway is a vacation rental site that has a total of 11 sites that you can book your vacation rental on. Since all of the HomeAway sites are basically the same thing, we tend to look on VRBO when on the computer and the HomeAway App when on a mobile device. So far we’ve only booked through the HomeAway App. VRBO has its own app but the HomeAway one comes up before and after the VRBO one since it is the “parent” company. I mean, my login for HomeAway is the same for VRBO. So for the purposes of this post, they are one and the same.

When it comes time to plan your next trip, here are a few reasons to use HomeAway.

1. Rates are on average cheaper than hotels.

On average, the rates on HomeAway are cheaper than that of hotels. This all depends on what you are looking for though. I mean there will always be exceptions. For most of what we’ve booked through HomeAway, we’ve paid right about what we would have paid for a hotel and gotten a lot more for our money than we would have with a hotel. For what we would have paid for a king sized bed in a decent hotel with a beach view, we got a three-bedroom house with a private screened in pool on the canal that was only a 5-minute bike ride away from the beach.

2. Ease of Search

Whether you are searching on the app or on a computer using HomeAway is super easy! When trying to find a good deal on a hotel, it can get confusing and you can book a room. Only to get there and find out it’s not the hotel you thought you were booking. Been there, done that. Not fun. This is not the case with HomeAway. One of the great things about HomeAway is that guests are encouraged to leave reviews on their stay. All of the reviews for the properties are right listed with the property details so you know exactly what to expect!

3. Amazing Search Filters

Like I said in the last point, searching for a hotel can be confusing and extremely frustrating. Not only can you book at a different hotel than you intended on all because you tried to get the best price but getting all the features you want. On HomeAway, not only is it easy to search a town for a place to stay. You can put in tons of filters to find your dream rental. You can narrow down your search by price, the number of guests, bedrooms, and bathrooms but you can pick what features you’d like as well. Pets, pool, wheelchair access, and much more!

Not only that but you can pick the property type too. Cabin, cottage, house, apartment, and even yacht are all options for property type! You can also pick the location type. If you want it on the beach, downtown, or in the mountains, you can narrow down your options to get exactly what you want.

4. No Noisy Neighbors

When staying in a hotel you have to worry about noisy neighbors. People coming and going at all times of the morning and night. You stress your whole trip about trying to be considerate of your neighbors. All the while the neighbors not being considerate of you. When renting a house rather than a room in a hotel, you don’t have to worry about noisy neighbors as much. I mean there is always a chance for it if there are other houses close or if you rent out a room in a house rather than a full house.
