What We Believe

If you look at the top of this webpage you will notice that this blog covers 3 types of topics. The first being faith. Justin and I are Christians and our faith is very important to us. In today’s world saying you are Christian though doesn’t really clarify much other than you believe in Jesus and his teachings. There are many denominations of Christianity. There are Baptists, Catholics, Prespertyrians, and Methodists just to name a few. All of these different denominations differ in their beliefs. Some of the ways they differ are slight and others a little more. Since each denomination has differing doctrines, I wanted to take some time to share with you what we believe.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 says “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”. The Bible is the inspired Word Of God. It gives a true history of the creation of the heavens, the earth, and of mankind. It contains the correct prophecy of the ages to come regarding the heavens and the earth and the destiny of man. Furthermore, there is no salvation outside of that which is contained within its pages.

We believe in the great commission and are endeavoring to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love, mercy, and compassion.

Matthew 28:19-20 tells us about the great commission. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”. One of the ways we do this is by being a Missions Minded church. Our church is intentional in supporting missionaries. Another way we do this is by being active in our community. We have an outreach team that goes out each week and gives out door-hangers inviting people to church. Our church has a TV broadcast. Our church also webcasts our services on our website, Facebook, and Youtube. We are reaching out to our world trying to spread the gospel with our world.

We believe there is only one God.

Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:”. He is the creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), as the Son (Savior), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit in the church today). Malachi 2: 10 shows us God as the Father, “Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?”. Romans 1:3 tells us Jesus is the Son of God, “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,”. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit, Jesus Christ coming to dwell in the hearts and lives of those who receive him. That is why when speaking of the Spirit, Jesus said: “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you” (John 14:16-26; Rom 8:9; 2 Cor.13:5).

There are not three persons in God but three manifestations of the ONE GOD. God is the Savior, and his saving name is now revealed to men as JESUS.

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin.

Through baptism, we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is shown to us in Romans 6:3-6 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”.

For more verses about this see Colossians 2:11-14 and Acts 2:38.

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues.

Acts 2:4 tells us of the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit, ” And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”. In Acts 10:44-48 tells us of Cornelius and his friends receiving the Holy Ghost and speaking in other tongues. Acts 19:1-6 tells us of the men at Ephesus getting the Holy Ghost and speaking in other tongues. Speaking in tongues is an external evidence that something has taken place in the heart. Every aspect of God’s work in the human heart is manifested outwardly in one form or another. Real love will manifest itself in a practical manner; faith produces works, etc. A marvelous experience such as receiving the Holy Ghost demands a marvelous manifestation as well.

We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

He ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy; words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps and government. This is shown to us throughout the Bible. One example is Mark 16:15-18: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
