Games are a great way to spend quality time with your family. I know that our FamLee absolutely loves to play games! It’s the best way for us to get the everyone involved. For us, playing games is one of the few things that everyone enjoys. Everyone can, and usually wants, to be involved in this activity.
The FamLee has a few favorites when it comes to games. Funny enough, each of us has a different favorite game. Below are our a few of our absolute favorite games.
Uno
Of course, we had to start this list off with one of the most iconic family card games. This one is BroLee’s favorite game. Each of us loves this game though. If you’ve never played Uno before, you are missing out! It is extremely easy to learn and perfect for all ages! This game can be played by young children and the more mature alike. It is a guaranteed good time for everyone!
Over the years, Uno has released new versions that offer new challenges to the game. There are about 35 different versions available now. Everything ranging from the classic Uno to Uno Attack Jurassic World. To see all the different versions, click here.
Blockus
This is a game that I had personally never heard of before joining the FamLee. To me, Blockus is like Sorry and Tetras had a baby. This is by far, MomLee’s favorite game! Unlike Uno, this game does not allow for an unlimited number of players. Blockus is a game for two to four people. It is a very fast paced strategy game that only has one and endless opportunities.
Each player has 21 game pieces. They take turns places their pieces on the board. The catch is each piece must touch another one of your pieces. The point of the game is to stake a claim on your territory by fitting as many of your pieces on the board as possible. All the while trying to block your opponents.
Phase 10
Phase 10 is my personal favorite as of right now. This is mostly because I’ve been pretty good at it the last few times we’ve played it. Just like the rest of the FamLee, I am competitive but I have not played as many games as the rest, I have been at a slight disadvantage. When we found an old pack of Phase 10 cards and decided to give it a try. I quickly picked up on it and immediately took a liking to it. The is partly because there aren’t as many chances for the other players to sabotage each other.
Like many card games, the rules can be a little difficult to get a handle of. The point of the game is to complete your phase. When a player completes their phase and is able to discard all their cards, that ends the hand. If you did not complete your phase before the hand ends, you start the next hand in that same phase. If you completed your phase but still had cards left, you were able to start the next hand in the next phase. Once all 10 phases and hands are completed, whoever has the least amount of points wins.
Things to Remember
It is just a game.
If your family is anything like ours, things can get a little heated because you’re all so competitive. The point of playing games with your family is to make memories. Not to beat each other.
A game doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun.
Some of the most fun games are some of the cheapest. Even a dollar deck of cards can bring hours and hours of entertainment for the whole family.
It’s not all about you.
The point of playing a game with your family is to spend time with one another. If a game isn’t your favorite. You should still play it. You really never know how much time you have with someone so you need to the most out of every moment.
Monopoly is never a good idea.
Just don’t even try. You will get angry. It will not be fun. Just don’t. Also, it just takes WAY too long to finish. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Thank you so much for reading!
Oh! One last thing before you go. Rook is another great option for your family’s game night. This game requires a minimum of four players, two to a team. Because this game is very technical, to me at least, we opted to leave it just as a shout out. Rather than making it its own bullet. Also, it is because I’m just really bad at it. I don’t get it. I have a hard time because it requires you to rely on your teammate to know what to make your bet for and know what cards to lay down.
