We all know that we need to put God before anything else in our life’s. But do we always put that into practice as we should? Now do not worry this is is not an article where I have come to point my finger at people and tell them how awful they are. Honestly, I cannot say that I always put God before everything in my life like I know I should. I mean I wish I could but that would just be untrue. Sadly at times we all miss our focus and begin to look past the thing that should be at the forefront of our lives and focus on the things of the world.
The whole idea for this article comes from our recent Colorado trip. We have not put God first every day like we know we should. Instead, we rushed around and jumped from one activity to another. This ultimately has caused us to really drop the ball on our Daily Bible reading and study. These may not seem like a big deal to some but our time spent in the Word is our time with God. While we have still prayed and God has come up in conversation on a daily basis. We have found ourselves not even taking a few minutes every day to read the Bible.
Now do not get me wrong we have greatly enjoyed this trip thus far and I’m. sure we are going to have more great times to come. I really consider it to be a blessing to even have the opportunity to take this trip and have these great experiences. Just looking back over the last week in a half makes me feel like I missed the mark in some way. I know that this is not going to throw my salvation into jeopardy, but I know that God has been with us on this trip and that he keep us safe through all our travels. We survived an ice-covered road in the rental car, the cross-country flight, and He even helped calm my anxiety the night before we flew out and the day of the flight. We will get into the anxiety stuff in another article to come soon.
So when I think about all that and then about how I allowed my self to put my focus on the world then on God it just makes me a little sad. Now, do we have a good reason to rush out in the morning? I mean we could say we do but in reality, it is just an excuse. It was more about pleasing myself then pleasing the one who created me. We are taught in the scripture that God should be first in our life’s.
Moving forward I want to strive to keep God first in my life. This doesn’t mean that I will not be able to go out and take a trip like this one. It just means that God needs to be an integral part of the trip. I hope that you will also strive to keep God and the foremost point of your life. No matter where you may end up.
