As stated in a previous post, I only listen to Christian music. To keep things fresh and to listen to different styles of Christian music I use multiple different music apps. In this post, I will compile a list of the apps that I have found to work best for me. I use all of the following apps regularly both in the car and at work. I have found that each of these apps feels a different need that I have. For instance, if I have a specific song or artist I will use I will use Amazon Music if I want to just listen to I will use one of the others.
Amazon Music:
I use this app far more than any other. The Amazon Music app allows you to search for songs and add them to your library, listen to premade playlist (that are upgraded frequently), or listen to stations based on a song, artist, or genre. This app also has a great interface that works great and is easy to use. If you have Amazon Prime you can use this app for free otherwise it is a $9.99 monthly fee.
- Cost: Free with Prime membership
- Interface: Up to date and very easy to use
- Listening Options: Personal library, Premade playlists, or Stations
- Availability: IOS & Android
Pandora:
Almost everyone has heard of Pandora and that is because it just works so well. The interface looks amazing and is updated regularly. Thanks to its great interface it is super easy to use and understand. This app also offers a ton of great Christian options with the ability to listen to just about any Christian band you can think of and the best part is it is free! You can pay a monthly fee to use the app with unlimited skips and no adds, but I personally will listen to some ads to save the money.
- Cost: Free with ads
- Interface: Always up to dates and intuitive
- Listening Options: Stations based on songs, artist, or genre
- Availability: IOS & Android
Christian Radio+ :
This app is a great option if you want to listen to Christian genres that are hard to find on other apps. Like Christian Bluegrass or instrumental music. This app pulls in many different online Christian stations and covers many different styles. The interface of this app is not as elegant as the others we have covered, but it makes up for that with a multitude of great listening options. The only complaint I have about this app is that when you unplug headphones or discount Bluetooth it continues to play music through the phone’s speakers. This is not a big deal just a minor inconvenience since you have to stop the music on the phone every time.
- Cost: Free
- Interface: Not great looking but easy to use
- Listening Options: Many different online radio stations, spanning many genres
- Availability: IOS & Android
HIS Radio:
I have only started using this app recently, but it is great. The interface is not the best looking, but it works very well. This app is different in the fact that it is a stream from one single radio source. It does, however, have multiple different streaming options from their stations so you can listen to different genres. It also has a Christian Talk radio station which I personally enjoy since the stores are looked at from a Christian viewpoint. This app is also free but does accept donations. This app also includes two unique features, first, you can vote on what songs are played. You can also set an alarm in the app that will allow you to wake up to great Christian music.
- Cost: Free
- Interface: Older looking, but works great
- Listening Options: 5 different streaming stations
- His Radio
- HIS Morning Crew
- Christian Talk
- HIS Radio Z
- HIS Radio Praise
- Availability: IOS & Android
